The JVC BN-VG121 Data Battery (3.6V, 2100mAh) is designed as a spare or replacement battery for HD and Standard Everio camcorders. This battery provides remaining battery power on your Everio's LCD screen so you're never caught off guard by a loss of power. The BN-VG121 can power hard drive HD Everio models for up to 2 hours and 5 minutes and other HD Everio models up to 2 hours and 40 minutes. Standard Everio hard drive models can be powered up to 3 hours and 50 minutes, while Memory models can be powered by the Data Battery up to 4 hours and 40 minutes.

These heavier duty video camera batteries are very expensive, far more than I wanted to pay for one. I found this one at Amazon.com for half the regular manufacturer's price. Yes, we've all heard the horror stories about cheap batteries burning up, but I've used them in my cameras for years and never had a problem. I don't believe Amazon would allow inferior merchandise to be sold through their website, and I was pleased with the guarantee they give, so I bought this one. I used it, recently, to record a Mud Bogging event and it gave me no problems.

I am glad I invested in this battery as it does have a longer life than the one that came with the camera and always had the other as a backup, but didn't need it as it was good for the amount of time needed to video.
